The academic wing of the first school in eastern South Dakota designed specifically for middle school students is planned with a central "street." On one side of the "street" are eight learning centers for 1000 students. On the other side are ancillary areas and the high ceilinged media center.

A second wing, designed for after-hours community use, houses 3 gyms. At the hub of the school is the cafetorium, a flexible cafeteria and auditorium.
