This completely new middle/high school, attached to an existing elementary school, replaces an obsolete facility at the opposite end of the district's campus near the center of Rock Rapids.

The new school is carefully integrated with the existing elementary school to create a consistent, coherent education complex. To keep age groups separate, the entrance to the new school is on the opposite side of the complex from the elementary school entrance. Shared facilities are located between the new and existing schools.
