August 24, 2009
A dedication and open house for the newly expanded and remodeled library was held Thursday the at Huron Public Library.

Speakers during the Dedication Ceremony included Mayor McGirr, Commissioner Dale Schneider, Dick Freske (Building Consultant), Peggy Woolridge (Huron Chamber of Commerce), Jim Grooper (library board of trustees board president) and Colleen Smith (library director).

The Library building project began in July 2008 and was completed at the end of April, six weeks ahead of the projected completion date. During May, library staff and other city employees moved the contents of the library into the entire new space. The library re-opened to serve the public June 4.

During the Open House, tours of the new facility were given by library staff.  People could also view a time-line history of library  service in Huron from 1883–2009. This historical display will remain available for public viewing at the library for two weeks.
